Mr. Sitaras is a commercial litigator and business lawyer admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation and business transactions, with an emphasis on real estate, construction, surety bonds, mechanic’s liens and commercial law.
As a litigator, Mr. Sitaras has tried multimillion-dollar cases in Federal and State courts. Mr. Sitaras represents construction companies, real estate developers, businesses and individuals on complex construction cases involving both public works and private construction projects and has successfully represented contractors in claims against public agencies, including the United States Department of the Navy, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, the New York City School Construction Authority, and New York City Housing Authority, among others.
On the transactional side, Mr. Sitaras counsels clients on a variety of commercial and business matters, including formation, structuring, organization and finance of business entities, drafting and negotiating operating agreements, shareholder agreements and commercial contracts, as well as operational concerns, such as asset purchases and sales, debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions of closely held companies, franchising, copyright and trademark licensing, employment matters, and real estate transactions (purchases, sales, mortgage loans, refinancing, mezzanine financing, construction loans and commercial leasing). Having represented both institutional and private lenders as well as borrowers, Mr. Sitaras offers formidable expertise in the areas of business finance, real estate finance, and secured transactions.
Before founding M&S, Mr. Sitaras practiced with a highly-regarded commercial litigation firm in Manhattan. While in law school Mr. Sitaras interned for the Hon. Michael H. Dolinger, Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York, and the Hon. Nicholas Tsoucalas, Senior Judge in the U.S. Court of International Trade.
